Rodney L. Chandler, CPA, manages the Athens office of our firm. Rodney combines technical knowledge with accessibility and open communication as he offers advice and services to small businesses and their owners, medical professionals, farmers, non-profit organizations, and construction / real estate companies.
He earned CPA license 14140 in 1993, joined Smith Adcock in 1999, and became a partner in 2005. Rodney is a Madison County native and holds bachelor’s degrees from Berry College in Accounting and Political Science.
Professionally, Rodney served as the Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Society of CPAs from 2017-2018, and continues his long history of service to that organization and the profession. He also serves as a Director and Chairman of the Board of Jackson Electric Membership Cooperative (Jefferson, GA), as a Director and Treasurer of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and as a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Madison County.
Rodney and his wife Jill were blessed with three children, Ben, Sam, and Elizabeth, and they reside in Danielsville. Away from work, they enjoy their empty(ing) nest, family and church activities, and home projects.. Rodney and Jill attend Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, where Rodney serves as a deacon.

Jeremy A. Burch is a CPA with over 10 years of experience providing comprehensive financial services to individuals and businesses. Currently, he is a Partner at the Athens, GA office Smith, Adcock and Company.
Jeremy earned his Bachelor of Science in Family Financial Planning from the University of Georgia and holds Masters degrees from Mercer University in Business Administration and Accountancy.
Jeremy has a diverse background in public accounting, having worked with a wide range of clients from small businesses to large corporations. His areas of expertise include tax planning and compliance, client accounting services, and financial consulting.
Jeremy is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Geogia Society of CPAs. He is also a 2023 graduate of the AICPA Leadership Academy.
Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife Dawn and his two children Emmie and Sullivan. He is an avid college sports fan and loves supporting UGA whenever he can.

Mickey Hotcaveg is a Manager at Smith, Adcock and Company LLP in the firm’s Athens office, bringing more than 35 years of public accounting experience, including over 30 years with the firm.
Mickey has extensive expertise in the taxation of corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and estates. He also has substantial experience in planning, supervising, and preparing financial statement reports for audit, review, and compilation engagements. Combining deep technical expertise with a personal, client focused approach, Mickey provides valuable guidance to small businesses and their owners across a wide range of industries.
Mickey earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Valdosta State University. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA).
An active community member, Mickey serves as a member of the Athens Rotary Club and as a board member of the Athens Rotary Foundation, where he also served as Treasurer for more than 15 years. His prior leadership roles include serving as Treasurer for Rotary District 6910, the Boys and Girls Club of Athens, and the North Oconee High School Titan Club.

Tracy joined Smith Adcock and Company in the Athens office as a manager in 2024. Tracy began her accounting career in industry in 1991 and switched to public accounting in 1998 upon receiving her CPA certification. She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration. Tracy has experience in corporate, individual and non-profit tax preparation and enjoys working with small businesses offering advice and strategic planning.
Tracy is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She also serves on the board of the Athens Area Humane Society.
Outside of work Tracy resides in Watkinsville and enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, staying active, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys taking weekly trapeze and fabric’s classes with a local nonprofit since 2008.

She completed her Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Union Graduate College in Schenectady, NY. She is extensively involved in individual, corporate, and partnership taxation.

Joan Cox-Derda joined the Athens office of Smith Adcock and Company in 2014. She is a native Athenian and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia in Accounting. She earned her CPA license in 1991 and is a member of both the Georgia Society of CPA’s and the AICPA. She began her career working with local CPA firms in Athens and Atlanta. In 1995 she transitioned to the private sector where she served as controller for businesses in the Athens area. She has substantial experience in individual, corporate, and partnership tax preparation.
Joan and her husband Greg live on their hobby farm in Winterville, GA. In their leisure time, they enjoy organic gardening, camping, amateur astronomy, and getting together with family and friends.

Denise Johnson joined the Athens office of Smith Adcock and Company in 2024. She is a native Athenian and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia.
She is a member of the Georgia Society of CPA’s. She began her career in the accounting field with a local CPA firm in 2013. She has experience in the preparation of business accounting records, financial statements, and tax preparation.
Denise enjoys watercolor painting, needle felting, reading, hiking, and playing with her many pets.
Marshall started his career in public accounting in 2020 and joined Smith Adcock and Company in 2024. He is experienced in corporate and individual taxation as well the preparation of business accounting records and financial statements.
Marshall received his Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of North Georgia. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Marshall is a native of Georgia. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Morgan and his dog, Maple. His hobbies include weightlifting, running, camping, PC building and gaming.
Austin started his career in public accounting in 2020 and joined Smith Adcock and Company in 2025. His expertise is in GAAP-based financial reporting, risk assessment, and helping clients work through their accounting and reporting challenges.
Austin received his Bachelor of Accounting from The University of Alabama and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Austin is a native of Gordo, Alabama, and now lives in Buford, GA, with his wife, Julia, and his son, Shepherd. He enjoys spending time with his family, pursuing fitness through CrossFit training, reading, and making music with the people he loves. Austin, Julia, and Shepherd attend Camp Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA.
I graduated from Auburn University in December of 2023 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and I am currently pursuing my CPA. I was an intern at Borland Benefield, P.C. in Auburn, Alabama during the spring of 2024.
Outside of work I enjoy the outdoors, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family!

Karina joined Smith, Adcock and Company in May of 2024. She graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is currently pursuing her Master of Accountancy at the University of Georgia. Throughout her time in college, Karina has had various accounting jobs, including a student position in an accounts payable department at the University of South Florida as well as a prior public accounting internship in Tampa.
Currently, Karina resides in Athens. Outside of work and school, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family.
Davis joined Smith, Adcock and Company as an intern in August of 2023. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s in Accounting as well as a Master of Accountancy. In his time at UGA, he worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Tull School of Accounting and served as a student representative of the Graduate Student Association.
Now a full-time staff member, Davis prepares individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns and frequently engages in tax research tasks and tax planning. Davis is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
A resident of Athens, Davis enjoys hiking, camping, attending UGA football games, and trivia. He attends Cleveland Road Baptist Church in Bogart, GA.

Jenny joined our firm in August 2023 and holds the position of Office Manager for our Athens office. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Legal Studies from the University of North Georgia and brings nearly two decades of administrative experience from the legal field where she worked as a Registered Paralegal and Office Manager. Currently, Jenny manages all the ‘behind the scenes’ tasks that keep our office running smoothly.

Pamela joined the Athens team of Smith Adcock in early 2025. She brought 25 years of office administration experience, having worked with accounting, legal, and non-profit organizations. Originally from Oklahoma, she has become a full-fledged Georgian through her time attending the University of Georgia and then remaining in the Athens area.
Pamela enjoys musical theater (attending and performing), crocheting, spending time with family and friends, and planning/catering the occasional party.

I joined the SAC team in September 2025 as an Office Administrative Assistant at the Athens location. I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from Strayer University and have extensive experience in corporate administration from my time at Merial/Boehringer Ingelheim, along with a strong background in legal support as a criminal defense paralegal and Notary Signing Agent.
I am proud native of Athens-Clarke County and diehard Bulldawgs fan, I enjoy spending quality time with my daughter, Deanna, and my granddaughter, Teagan. My hobbies include event planning, attending stage plays, playing and watching basketball, reading, and gathering with family.
