Rodney L. Chandler, CPA, manages the Athens office of our firm. Rodney combines technical knowledge with accessibility and open communication as he offers advice and services to small businesses and their owners, medical professionals, farmers, non-profit organizations, and construction / real estate companies.
He earned CPA license 14140 in 1993, joined Smith Adcock in 1999, and became a partner in 2005. Rodney is a Madison County native and holds bachelor’s degrees from Berry College in Accounting and Political Science.
Professionally, Rodney served as the Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Society of CPAs from 2017-2018, and continues his long history of service to that organization and the profession. He also serves as a Director and Chairman of the Board of Jackson Electric Membership Cooperative (Jefferson, GA), as a Director and Treasurer of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and as a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Madison County.
Rodney and his wife Jill were blessed with three children, Ben, Sam, and Elizabeth, and they reside in Danielsville. Away from work, they enjoy their empty(ing) nest, family and church activities, and home projects.. Rodney and Jill attend Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, where Rodney serves as a deacon.

Jeremy A. Burch is a CPA with over 10 years of experience providing comprehensive financial services to individuals and businesses. Currently, he is a Partner at the Athens, GA office Smith, Adcock and Company.
Jeremy earned his Bachelor of Science in Family Financial Planning from the University of Georgia and holds Masters degrees from Mercer University in Business Administration and Accountancy.
Jeremy has a diverse background in public accounting, having worked with a wide range of clients from small businesses to large corporations. His areas of expertise include tax planning and compliance, client accounting services, and financial consulting.
Jeremy is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Geogia Society of CPAs. He is also a 2023 graduate of the AICPA Leadership Academy.
Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife Dawn and his two children Emmie and Sullivan. He is an avid college sports fan and loves supporting UGA whenever he can.

Mickey is a manager at Smith, Adcock and Company in the Athens Office and has over 33 years of public accounting experience with over 30 years with Smith, Adcock and Company. Mickey has extensive experience in the taxation of corporate, partnership, individuals, trusts, and estates. Mickey has substantial experience in planning, supervising, and preparing financial statement reports for audit, review, and compilation engagements. With a focus on using his technical knowledge combined with accessibility, Mickey offers advice and service to small businesses and their owners of a wide range of industries.
Mickey received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Valdosta State University. Mickey is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Mickey is a member of the Athens Rotary Club and board member of the Athens Rotary Foundation. Mickey served as the Treasurer of the Athens Rotary Foundation for over 15 years and is also the former Treasurer of Rotary District 6910, the Boys and Girls Club of Athens and the North Oconee High School Titan Club.
Mickey lives in Oconee County with his wife, Cheryl, and their three children, Michael Jr., Mary Catherine, and Matthew. He has been involved in coaching baseball and football.

Tracy joined Smith Adcock and Company in the Athens office as a manager in 2024. Tracy began her accounting career in industry in 1991 and switched to public accounting in 1998 upon receiving her CPA certification. She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration. Tracy has experience in corporate, individual and non-profit tax preparation and enjoys working with small businesses offering advice and strategic planning.
Tracy is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She also serves on the board of the Athens Area Humane Society.
Outside of work Tracy resides in Watkinsville and enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, staying active, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys taking weekly trapeze and fabric’s classes with a local nonprofit since 2008.

She completed her Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Union Graduate College in Schenectady, NY. She is extensively involved in individual, corporate, and partnership taxation.

Anjela resides with her husband in Watkinsville. Away from work she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, playing tennis, and running.

Joan Cox-Derda joined the Athens office of Smith Adcock and Company in 2014. She is a native Athenian and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia in Accounting. She earned her CPA license in 1991 and is a member of both the Georgia Society of CPA’s and the AICPA. She began her career working with local CPA firms in Athens and Atlanta. In 1995 she transitioned to the private sector where she served as controller for businesses in the Athens area. She has substantial experience in individual, corporate, and partnership tax preparation.
Joan and her husband Greg live on their hobby farm in Winterville, GA. In their leisure time, they enjoy organic gardening, camping, amateur astronomy, and getting together with family and friends.

Lauren Combs joined Smith, Adcock and Company in 2022 and has more than 10 years of experience in public accounting. She has extensive experience providing tax services for closely held businesses and their owners, high net-worth individuals, nonprofits, and trusts.
A native Athenian, Lauren holds bachelor’s degrees from The University of Georgia in both Accounting and Finance. She also completed her Master of Accountancy degree with a focus in taxation from the University of Georgia in 2014.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys traveling, needlepointing, college football, and spending time with her family, friends, and beloved dog, Matilda.
Karina joined Smith, Adcock and Company in May of 2024. She graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is currently pursuing her Master of Accountancy at the University of Georgia. Throughout her time in college, Karina has had various accounting jobs, including a student position in an accounts payable department at the University of South Florida as well as a prior public accounting internship in Tampa.
Currently, Karina resides in Athens. Outside of work and school, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family.
Joley joined our firm in May 2019 and holds the position of Office Administrator at our Athens Office. She has extensive experience in administrative support and oversees the electronic filing of returns with the IRS and states as well as handling many of the accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibilities for the Athens office. Joley formerly served as Chief Clerk of the Athens-Clarke County Probate Court, then as a legal assistant in a busy litigation firm. She also served as Judicial Assistant to Regina M. Quick, the first woman appointed to the Superior Court bench in the Western Judicial Circuit until.
Joley’s family includes her husband, three children and five grandchildren. She enjoys reading, gardening, painting, and camping.

Jenny joined our firm in August 2023 and holds the position of Office Manager for our Athens office. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Legal Studies from the University of North Georgia and brings nearly two decades of administrative experience from the legal field where she worked as a Registered Paralegal and Office Manager. Currently, Jenny manages all the ‘behind the scenes’ tasks that keep our office running smoothly.
Jenny is a Madison County native and enjoys spending time with her husband, Scotty, and their two boys, Codie & Grayson. Her hobbies include being a busy football mom, hiking, concerts, and cooking for her family.
